Richmond Punch, Dallas born Violinist and Juilliard and Yale Graduate is up to more than Bach and Mozart these days. Richmond is preparing to perform at One Arts Plaza as part of a WFAA “Youngstreet†feature story. Richmond has been looking for the right time to make a move toward a national career as a commercial Violinist. With his High Impact Performances of Violin which he has developed over the years in Dallas, performing all over the Metroplex he says “I am ready to be able to share my gift with the world. It is my calling to perform for a wide audience and be able to reach people with memorable music.â€
The event will showcase original work written by Richmond Punch a well as a unique showcase of his hip-hop violin talents with the DJ Phyia. Finishing up the evening will be the Richmond Punch Jazz Quartet. This exciting event will be videotaped to be used for a music video which will accompany his new 2008 CD scheduled for Release November 2008.
“The opportunity for national exposure has been long waited,†Richmond Punch’s manager Gayle Punch says. Richmond Punch has been featured at Brooklyn Jazz Café, Terelli’s Restaurant and Café Muse.
Recent performances of Richmond Punch and DJ Phyia have included Josh Howard Foundation and a Fashion Show hosted by Tyson Beckford. Richmond Punch and his Jazz Quartet have been featured at the City Arts Celebration, the African American Museum, and the grand opening of the Hilton Hotel in Rockwall. Past performances have been with such artists as Donnie McClurkin. Locally, Richmond has been featured at Brooklyn Jazz Café, Terelli’s Restaurant, Nasher Sculpture Garden, Northpark Mall, and at Café Muse in “Violin for Two†with Michael Ward.
Richmond’s musical influences come from Jazz, Soul R&B, Hip Hop, Latin and Gospel music. The performance taping will take place at 1722 Routh St. in front of One Arts Plaza Oct. 10, 2008 from 4-6pm beginning with a one hour performance of Richmond Punch Violin and DJ and ending with the Richmond Punch Jazz Quartet. In addition to remarkable live music, One Arts Plaza has five eloquent restaurants to further your indulgence. Come hungry for good food, and great music.
